About Olive Sickle Cell Initiative

We are a nonprofit organisation dedicated to reducing the burden of sickle cell disorder in Nigeria through education, advocacy, screening, and support.

Our Story

OSCI Team

Olive Sickle Cell Initiative (OSCI) is a nonprofit organisation founded in 2016 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria in 2021 (CAC 164947). We were established to reduce the burden of sickle cell disorder in Nigeria through education and awareness, advocacy, philanthropy, psychological support services, and community engagement.

We believe that sickle cell disorder is not only a medical condition. It is also a social, emotional, educational, and economic challenge. Our work therefore focuses on both prevention and support.

Our volunteers are not just helpers — many have a "sickle cell story." They are warriors, parents, siblings, or friends. This lived experience gives our work compassion and credibility.

Today, OSCI has reached over 15,000 beneficiaries, screened 9,000+ people, and supported 900+ warriors. We've engaged 36 schools, 40 churches, and 14 communities — and we're just getting started.
